Undergraduate programme in Financial Mathematics
Mathematics plays an important role in the financial services industry and there is growing demand for graduates with knowledge and understanding of both financial matters and the mathematics which underpins them. The first two years share a common theme with the Mathematics with Economics programme, but in the second and final years there are compulsory modules in finance and in areas of mathematics which are applicable to finance. There is also a range of optional modules covering a wide variety of topics in pure and applied mathematics and economics.
Mathematics accounts for two thirds of the programme. No previous knowledge of economics is necessary as the first two years provide a comprehensive introduction to both macroeconomics and microeconomics.
A personal tutor is assigned to each student to provide help and guidance throughout their entire studies.
