Integrable Days at Loughborough: 26-27 January 2000

A two-day workshop on integrable systems will be held at Loughborough University, UK on 26 & 27 January 2000.

All are welcome!

Limited funds may be available to support the attendance of postgraduate research students at the workshop. Enquiries should be addressed to the organisers.

Schedule:

Talks will be 45 minutes long followed by 10 minutes discussion time.

Wednesday, 26 January

14:30 David Fairlie (Durham): ntegrable universal equations arising from Dirac-Born-Infeld Lagrangians
15.30 Rod Halburd (Loughborough): Difference equations of Painleve type
16:30 Coffee
17.00 Nick Manton (Cambridge): Supersymmetric classical mechanics
18.00 Oleg Zaboronski (Warwick): On c-integrable systems in many dimensions

Thursday, 27 January

09:00 Chris Athorne (Glasgow): Hirota maps and representation theory
10:00 Jurgen Berndt (Hull): Ricci curvature and Staeckel systems
11:00 Coffee
11:30 Fran Burstall (Bath): An integrable system in conformal and projective differential geometry
12:30 Eugene Ferapontov (Loughbrough): Projectively applicable surfaces and quantum integrable systems
13:30 Discussion

Venue:

All talks will take place in room W0.02. This lecture theatre is in the imaginatively titled W-building on the west side of campus. It houses the Electrical Engineering, Physics and Mathematical Sciences Departments.

Here are some maps: one of the campus of Loughborough University; one helping you to reach the campus.

If you are arriving by car, the easiest way to reach the campus is via the M1, junction 23. Take the A512 toward Loughborough and at the first roundabout turn right and then left. The building immediately after the access barriers is the W-building and is the home of the School of Mathematics and the workshop venue. You should be able to park just before the barriers in one of the nearby carparks.

If you are arriving by train, the most convenient way to reach the campus from the railway station is by taxi. The cost is approximately £4. Ask for the School of Mathematics.

Anyone anticipating difficulty arriving should notify the organisers who will be pleased to help.

Likewise, anyone who would like assistance in finding accommodation for Friday night should inform us.
